I'm looking for the name of the horse liniment that was used at least as recently as the 1970s. My husband's grandma used to rub him down with it after his football games. They had it on the farm and she used it for the family as well as her horses.

He thinks it was in a yellow bottle with a horse image on the bottle.

We're middle-aged now and some days we sure could use that stuff. We're not up to trying new stuff unless we can't find the old stuff which we know worked great.

Does anyone remember the name of the liniment?

Thanks all,
Mrs. B.

I'm not sure if this is right BUT what you're discribing sounds like Absorbine Veterinary Liniment. I hope this helps!

I remember buying Absorbine liniment when we first bought our farm, 30 years ago. As I remember it worked fairly well for muscle soreness.

I think that may be it too, I've gotten some samples of Absorbine Liniment and the packet was a golden yellow with a horse head on it. It does work, especially for sore muscles & aching knees.

It is an absorbine product and I still use it but I think it might be sold under the brand name Absorbine Sr. Anyplace that sells tack or minor vet supplies will carry it and I believe it can be found in the NASCO catalog.

Found it. Absorbine Horse Linament. They sell 2 kinds. One is the original the other is a gel with a spearmint fragrance added. Hubby says the original soaks in more quickly, but the gel also does the trick.

Good stuff.
Thanks again.
