I need to build 2 shelters this winter for the horses (3 sided shelters with a roof). I'd like to build something that is portable (just big enough for 2 horses would be ideal) and on skids. Has anyone come across any plans for something like this? I've found a few plans for permanent strucutures that I could probably modify, but I'm not sure that these structures would hold up to the added stress of being moved/skidded.

Id get a couple of small metal carports and attach some wheels on one end. You may have to add some crossbracing when you move them but they wont be heavy. Keep in mind anything that size can blow over in a strong wind if not anchored to the ground

Brad, What you suggest sounds great, BUT I've been raising horses for 25+ years and have found that those creatures tend to destroy almost every thing we provide unless it is totally bomb proof. If you are so determined then use as much steel as possible and make it twice as heavy as needed. Not trying to discourage you but for the most part horses, mules etc tend to get bored and either become suicidal or just plain curious. If you do succeed it will be a very marketable product.. Good luck. Andy
Plus, they don't need shelter for the most part. Heat hurts them worse than cold.
