Chicken pen

I am thinking of getting back to raising chickens. My FIL has a spot that I am not sure about. It tends to be swampy when there is a lot moisture. It is low ground and sub soil is clay. There is a stand of scrub trees that he leaves to block the house from the road. I could set up some permanent dry spots and of course their coop. I am just looking to have a dozen egg layers. What difficulties would this wet ground pose to chickens?
