All entering freshmen at the University of California Santa Cruz used to be asked to write an essay on this subject: What Constitutes the Good Life? There was no right or wrong answer, but it made them stop and think about their priorities and goals for the future.
How would YOU answer this question? What to YOU constitutes The Good Life?
(No right or wrong answer; no grades. *grin*)

Cool idea cast iron-
The good life-Peace, family, well being, friends. Good food, crickets chirping, the sound of the rain on your roof, the fall leaves turning crimson. Growing your own food, bringing in the harvest. Animals both wild and domestic. The free expression of ideas between friends.

The good life;
World wide peace.
Good health.
Good friends.
Good politicians.
Good law enforcement.
Good fortune.
Good weather.
Great neighbors.

The Good Life; Healthy family, Debt Free, Self Reliant and enough land that you couldn't ride a horse from one side to the other in a day's time. Ken

For me, the cake:
Work so congenial that it feels like play.
A mate so perfect that I look heavenward and say thank you.
Time to use my talents to their best purpose.
The frosting:
A bright house, in a safe neighborhood, with high ceilings and an expansive, green view.
Adequate resources to eat well and travel occasionally.
Friends and family to love and be loved by.

Having such a close relationship with God that I could see through His eyes and love through His heart. That would be the good life

Good answer Flat. What I would expect you to say. I have a great life. I have found that breaking away from all the material things in this world is very rewarding. I spend more time with family and have money to do some of the things I never could before. I just wish it hadn't taken me most of my life to discover this. The simple life sure is a lot more stress free. Makes me feel sorry for the ones that think they need to spend every dollar they make on new toys.

I have a good life and and try to live the good life. I will try not to get too personal or to offend anyone, but my story is below.
My life has one foundation, He is Jesus Christ and what he did on the Cross. I know some don't believe in this and that's Ok, they can believe what they choose. However as I learn more about God and the love he has for us I can't help but respond to that love in awe of Him.
Having said that I find that even when I forget that He is God and I am not He is still there. I recieve blessings when I don't recognize them. He gives me what I need in order to be drawn back to Him and His love.
I get to work in my garden or on my property. Sometimes this entails other people sometimes just myself. When others are outside with me I have the opportunity to talk to them, or just quietly enjoy his or her company while we work. I enjoy this time with my wife, daughter or son. This is good times. Sometimes as we work we have the opportunity to stop working and sit to take a drink or take a break and we get to share with each other. When I sit with my wife we look at what we have done on the property and dream about what we want it to be. When I am sitting with my daughter I get to encourage her through her college years and experiences. With my son I get to talk with him about things fathers talk with growing boys.
At the end of the day after the garden is watered and the outside work is done we sit on the patio and talk about the happenings of the day with over a beer or wine cooler and enjoy the night. My wife and I did this tonight.
These are good times, and God has blessed me with them.
Thanks,
Andy

The Good Life?
To walk in locked step with The Lord.....and He will provide all that we need.
I sure wish I knew at 22 what I know now.
Man, things would be SO VERY different!

The Good Life to me would be having just enough...
Just enough Love to not be lonely
Just enough money to get what is needed
Just enough possessions to live freely
Just enough house to live comfortably
Just enough time to enjoy it all
Just enough blessings to be happy
And just enough wisdom to know when I have it.
