Has anyone had any experience with the Pro 2300? I keep reading that people are having a problem with the Food Saver Brand. I saw a video on the Pro 2300 and was impressed. I know there,s a big difference in price but you get what you pay for I guess. What do you think?

I would suggest you quit listening to the gripes about the FoodSaver and maybe find somebody that has one and see for yourself. Most gripes I've heard are user issues and have nothing to do with the machine itself. I've been using them for years and now use the top of the line one and couldn't be happier.

From reading previous vacuum sealing posts, I would assume the Food Saver can't be beat. I have never used vacuum sealing, but if I was to try it, it would be the Food Saver, just because of all I've read here.

I don't have any idea how many years I've been using a FoodSaver. My niece has my old one and it's still going strong. I've never had a FoodSaver caused problem. Have had a few user problems, just as CanNerd mentioned.
- Bones will poke through bags and break the seal if packed incorrectly.
- Juices will be pulled into the pump if care isn't taken when sealing.
- Same with powders if using the jar sealing attachment.
- Bags can get punctured, in the freezer, if tossed around haphazardly.
- Grease or other debris left along the sealing line can interfere with the seal.
Some people complain about the higher cost of the FoodSaver bags and rolls. While I like to save money, when I can, I'd rather pay the "insurance" the FS bags offer. A neighbor bought one of the inexpensive sealing systems and a bunch of the bags. After repeated failures, it was tossed in the trash. A FoodSaver now sits on their counter. The price of the other system would have bought a number of FS bags.
A short story -- Neighbor A bought a FS and a whole bunch of meat for the freezer at the same time. Neighbor A called neighbor B for HELP. B told A to call me because I had an FS. He didn't call, he knocked on the door. "Can you come and help me?"
Went with him, showed him how to use it. Gave him some tips while getting that meat ready for the freezer. Moral of the story -- Take the time to learn to use your FS before buying 10 packages of split chicken breasts and several family packs of porkchops. It isn't hard to learn the how-to. Just practice, a bit, even if you have to vac seal a coffee cup or a dish cloth because you don't have something ready for the freezer. THEN, go buy those pork loins that are on sale.
My only caution when buying a FS is to make sure the one you buy has the jar sealing attachment. Don't know if it's still the case today, but at one time a less expensive model was offered without that feature.

I agree, and even though I am new to vacuum packing, I did a lot of research before diving in, and ended up with a FS V3420, I love it, not one single issue so far. The bags and rolls are a little pricey, but what does it cost to heave a few rib eyes that are freezer burned?

Thanks for the remarks about the Food Saver but is there anyone out there that has tried the pro 2300? I like to get both sides of this comparison .
