A question for some of you who have done concrete work on the homestead. We built a root cellar(well contractor) and he didnt finish the job. We had to do the grinding to smooth the surface and take off the big booboos. Now we need to put a thin coat made from portland cement and sand on all the interior surfaces and the exposed front wall to smooth it for painting. Has anyone done this and if so what is the ratio of cement to sand? We are thinking maybe 3:1. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Have a great day!

Thanks Craig, if my math is correct that fellow was using a 2:1 or there abouts ratio. We went with the 3:1 and it worked great for filling in the holes where the forms were held together. We decided to forego the top coat as the surface was smooth enough for painting after it was ground out.

Thanks for your help.
