Can anyone tell me how often a cow will go into heat? We are trying to time our cow to have her calf when there are a minimum of flies around. No sense in trying to learn to milk her if we have to worry about the tail swishing around. ;) ;)

21 days is the magic number but it commonly ranges from 17 to 24 days. *The cycle begins with standing heat, or estrus and ovulation occurs within 24 to 32 hours.
Don't worry about the tail, it is no big deal and it is going to happen anyway.
