I have 6 cockerels I need to cull into the freezer. They are only 4 months old and have been on medicated starter until just now. How long do I have to wait for the medication to pass through their system?

I bought these guys from Cackle Hatchery - the only place I found with a minimum order less than 30. They are buff orpingtons - very mellow, supposed to lay in the winter and be good setters. They have been healthy and active since the day they arrived - I would buy the breed and buy from the hatchery again in a heartbeat - money well spent.

Pat

pat, the ingredient tag on the feed bag should tell you if there is a recomended withdrawel timeframe. if not, i'd say you'r good to go. antonio

I thought I'd checked the tag - rechecked to be sure. No luck. Someone else from the Philippines suggested something, but the post seems to have gotten lost with the board reorg.

Regardless, thanx for the suggestions. Managed to chase it down on the web - monensin (monensin sodium) for the prevention of coccidiosis needs 5 days for withdrawal. This is ample - won't be ready to slaughter for at least another 10 days or more.
