My kids were born in Indiana, I have a very warm spot in my heart for that state.
Hey Olds54, I know Riply county well, we used to live in Osgood and my husband has a bunch of relatives in Versailles and surrounding countryside. We lived in Franklin county, close to Brookville for eight years. I guess the Farmer's market is still going.

I am originally from Indiana--Miami County. My family still lives there. Actually was looking at land there on the internet last night. Seems to be cheaper there than where I am in PA. However, I know from experience that this is a friendlier place to live, with more resources for people who was to be more self reliant. We'll see.

oh my gosh, my friend and neighbor from Rockdale
once put lights telephone service out in Milan, she was hauling something long sticking up from the truck, forgot what it was, it was for the house they were building, and she snagged the lines and tore them down. Is the store selling organic gardening supplies still in Sunman? I used to pick apples at an orchard near Bright and the family spent many a summer afternoon at the lake near New Alsace, forgot the name of the lake. Kids caught bullfrogs at one end of it. A big hug for Southern Indiana.
NO, the farmers market was just a bit down the hill from the Catholic church. at that time it was no flea market. I went every wednesday morning. Sure miss it.

Welcome back home to Indiana, SpoonBread. I'm way up north in the state so it's too early for plantin' out in the garden yet... but it's been lovely for cleanin' up. I've done so much work outside the last few weeks... it's great. I love weather on the cool-ish side yet with the sun out and boy, that's exactly what we've had for several days out of the week, for the last month.

My mama died last October and was bedbound all of last year so we did absolutely NOTHING outside... just concentrated on caring for her inside. So, needless to say, there was much neglect to undo this year and I got an early start on it. Woo-hoo. The sun on my skin and the fresh air up my nose... makes a woodsy girl happy as a flea in a dog's ear.

;D

Thanks for the welcome Earthmama!

I'm sorry to hear about your mama passing. loosing a loved one is always hard.

I am glad to hear that your getting out and getting some sun, and working outside again. I've been so glad to be home. I've been able to go out and do some fishing, and finally got the garden tilled up. I keep feeling like I'm falling behind, but my grandpa keeps teilling me I've got plenty of time. He's been doing this alot longer than me so I'll take his word for it!

Thank you kindly for your condolences, SpoonBread. I appreciate them.

Ya know, I got to thinking the same thing today (as your Grandpa was talkin' about), as I was outside weeding for a couple hours this afternoon. I kept seeing things that I want to get to but haven't yet... and then it dawned on me that gardening and tending the great outdoors is an everyday project, all year long, except when the deep snow flies. Only then is it time to sit in the chair and dream about the next year's plans. Other than that, there's something to do everyday and we can't get it done all in one lump. Slow & steady.

But I always want things done yesterday and that's my problem. :P Enjoy having your hands and feet in Indiana soil once again. I've never had my hands and feet in anything else. :)

Feels good to be home, and I've been stayin' busy, believe you me! I finally got some stuff planted just in time for it to rain for 3 days. haha. I'll get more planted when it dries a bit. I cant wait for it to clear up so I can get back outside though!
