I am not from Wyoming but this is the best place i could think of to ask this. What is the weather like late May early June in Wyoming, we are vacationing there (Yellowstone) and I wanted to make sure we pack the right gear. Sorry if I should have posted somewhere else, thanks!

I lived in Wyoming on and off for almost 20 years. I have seen 4th of July parades get snowed on. Pack for cold possibly snowy weather. And even in the hottest part of the year in Yellowstone you will need a jacket at night.

I would say unpredictable.

Visited there years ago, late June and had heat, wind, cold, rain and snow. And we were only there for 10 days. Great vacation though, would love to do it again.

Pack for warm and cold weather, not to much of each and you should be fine.

BTW - I highly recommend the Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone. Very cool, my DD loved it and was 6 at the time.

Have fun 8)

Howdy

"Unpredictable" is the best word.

Dress in layers pretty much every day. Peel or replace as needed. Depending where you are I have seen snow on July 4, and 33 degree rain appear in less than 5 minutes in August.

On your way to Yellowstone as you drive west of Buffalo, stop at the peak of the Powder River Pass. Right south of the parking area there will be a gully with a snow bank in it 24/7/365. Go play.

Enjoy

if you are planning on tent camping I highly suggest sleeping bags with around a 10-20 degree rating. Agree on the layering too - a heavy jacket and gloves etc a must

Late May or early June it will be cool. I have lived an hour away from the park all my life in Ashton Id and Cody Wy and have driven thru the park many times. Some park roads won't even be plowed open till mid May. Camping at night will be cold. If you are coming thru Cody you should try to go to the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. It is an incredible museum its not just about Buffalo Bill, there is the Plains Indian museum, the Whitney Gallery of Western Art with a full section about Charles Russell, the Firearms museum with guns going back to the 1500s. It is well worth it. No mater which way you come call ahead and check park conditions.

Thank you all for the replies, we will be dressing in layers! I have read up on the Buffalo Bill museum, we were planning on going there, the snowy area sounds fun too! Can't wait I think this is going to be one of our best vacations yet! Thanks
