There were "two" sessions in Bismarck yesterday. The first was a "counter" session supporting current policy at noon. Tea Party organizers said 13 showed up. Three made the evening news (at least that is all they got of the group on camera) and they got equal time to the (my estimate only) 300 to 400 tea party folks that showed up at 3:00. We had posters, speakers (including Marty Beard for anyone who listens to Trent Loos) and even a little guy that was about 4 or 5. (He told the President to "Stay out of my piggy bank".) There was one circling pickup of hecklers (by the looks of the pickup we are already paying his mortgage or he has been so heavily taxed he can't afford much) and two window washers at the Federal Building who had a sign on their scaffold that just told me that they felt safe protesting FOR higher taxes while ON the Federal payroll. The participants near me were mostly retirees that had never done anything like this in there life and feared for the country and their children and grandchildren along with some mothers with kids in strollers and several Vietnam era Vets. We were peaceful, basically polite and said the pledge of allegiance on federal property (including "one nation UNDER GOD!!") -(horrors!) and then left quietly. Press coverage was almost non existent! Sounds like we will be back in July....I plan on being there again!
