After 30 years of swapping guns, running to every gunshow within a days drive of home hitting pawnshops and gun shops and getting to know every dealer around on a first name basis I have gotten a collection that I am truly satisfied with.
2 30/30's Winchester and Marlin
1 Ruger Ranch Rifle in 6.8 SPC
2 Ruger 10/22's
1 H&R Pardner Pump 12 ga
1 Savage 93r17 .17hmr
1 Rossi .22lr/20ga combo package
1 .50 inline muzzleloader using 209 primers
2 PSE compound bows
1 S&W M&P .40
1 single shot 12 ga
4 assorted makes of .22 rifles single shots and store brand rifles picked up cheap on sale racks $35 to $75 each
I do want to add one more handgun, the M&P .40 is my wifes. But if this were all I could ever have I am satisfied.
HERESY!!!!
I am only glad my wife doesn't read this forum. My God man, what if the wimminfolks were to get the idea that we have enough guns?

Rick, I feel like I have come full circle. I have truly owned one of everything there is. I have looked at needs rather than wants and function over fashion firearms. I am sure that if a smoking deal presented itself I would add a few more here and there.
If you have "truely owned one of everything there is", you must have had some fantanstic combo guns, drillings and double rifles! :)

Uh oh, this could lead into the old "What's a perfect battery of guns discussion."
OK, I'll start it out. My perfect minimalist battery would be...
.308 M1A
.22 LR Bolt rifle
.22 Ruger MKII
.45 XD or 1911
12 ga Mossy 500 with multiple barrels
.380 P3AT
(but I wouldn't feel under-gunned with your collection)

Rick, Does a Holland and Holland 8x57 count?
Oh absolutely!!
Although I'm not sure what would hurt worse: getting shot by one or having to buy one.
I'm having a hard enough time getting the 'finance committee' to cough up $1500 for an M1A, and I whimper every time I consider selling a gun (it's not pretty)

I reach the satisfaction point every time I buy a new gun. :)

I am at the point where I didn't really know how many firearms I had until I got out the binder that contains all the serial numbers. Holy cow! I've been accumulating ("collecting" infers they are worth money) for quite a few years.
For the last couple of years I've restricted myself to accessorizing: bayonets, slings, Ajax grips for my single action revolvers, etc.
Now I need to get out to the barn and inventory my ammo. Don't know how much of it is there either.

About the only thing I would like is a good CCW handgun. I too am pretty much satisfied with what I have.
And I don't have a wife to hear me say that. :D

Trick is to not keep anything in one place, tools, trailers, guns.etc............that way nobody knows how many you really have.
Deploy those assets!

I may be suffering from burnout just a little. I used to call it going full circle I would get into military style rifles for a couple of years then sell off a few of them and start buying origional style muzzleloaders I moved from muzzleloaders to civil war muskets then trapdoors and rolling blocks. Then I was back to tactical rifles again full circle. But hey at least I'm still having fun.

When I realized how many thousands of dollars I had tied up in weapons I got a little queasy. But then, they won't lose any money like stocks will.:)
So now that I'm calling it an investment plan, I feel better.:D

You guys are right I did need more. Tonight I traded for a Colt H-Bar 6700. I have come full circle again. Thanks for your support in these rough times.
Whew,
(collective sigh of relief)
We are mighty glad you came to your senses before the wimminfolks got wind of this. Now if you ever get to feeling like you have enough guns, let somebody know so we can stage an intervention.
Now if I can just get the wife to convince herself that I really do need a new shotgun.....
Let us know how the new Colt performs.

thats a fine collection!
I'm almost to a point of satisfaction....
I'd still like a few: USC45 or maybe a 458socom upper for my AR.....also a 308 caliber AR rifle....and then a shorter barreled shotgun for the home.....oh yea...and the Henry Lever action I was talking about in an other thread....
then I'd have the complete collection which i see as:
-field shotgun
-home defense shotgun
-revolver
-semi auto pistol
-22 pistol
-22 rifle
-"assault" rifle
-long range rifle
-short range carbine
the hard part seems to be feeding them though!!

Guns are like hungry kids. They seem to never get enough. :D

To me guns are like kids.. Everyone of them needs a good home to live in, I'm just trying to do my part and supply that home. Actually the better half calls it an addiction and she's right thankfully there's no 12 step program. I have my own toy account and out of that comes money for the toys, hunting trips, accaories, and anything else that deals with them. This way she doesn't take a deep breath when she's doing the bills and I walk in with a new rifle that I found for a great deal of only 1300.
I'm glad however that you slapped your alter ego and put him back in his place. I have enuf.. sheessss your alter personality is a mean bugger. Glad to have ya back.
Take care Be safe Poacher

Back when business was good we used to get a quarterly bonus, the amount of which was based on sales but I usually got $400-$500. My wife was ok with that being MY money, on top of my weekly allowance, so most of my weapons are in that price range. The one exception is my M1A, which was a gift. She has never seen all the firearms in one pile, but she doesn't nag me about it, either. Out of sight, out of mind.
