I know there are quite a few of us in CO/NE and the surrounding states. I had around 6 inches by 10am and another 6 after that.
Hope you are all faring well, we just had to get the 4WD out to go get daughter from work. I've still got 2 of my kids and daughters bf staying here. This morning they asked if they should go to the store for food - nope! I've got plenty already - no need to fight the hoards for some extra bread, etc.
So tonite we are having game nite and homemade chicken soup!
STay warm!
Son told me about 30 minutes ago that about 18 inches on the ground - he lives in 5 points in central Denver. It has slacked off but was supposed to whip up soon to no visability.
Stay home; stay warm and relax - this too shall pass

Here in OKC, we are expecting 4-6 inches from this storm. By tomorrow, all of the zombie shoppers will hit the stores, grabbing up shovels, bottled water, batteries, etc.

Holy moly.... I live in northern Indiana and spent 3 1/2 hrs. this afternoon working out in the yard, in a short-sleeved shirt and shorts. Then afterward I sat on the front stoop and drank 2 bottles of beer and swallowed 3 ibuprophen (oh, my poor old achin' knees!!).
I don't know what I'd do if we got snow now. I'd be in such a funk I'd probably sleep until it all melted again. I love winter with a passion but I sure was ready for it to exit this year!!
Stay warm... and try to not get too depressed. My heart goes out to ya!

There were forecasting up to 8 inches here in NE Kansas, but they have backed off to 3 to 5 inches....We'll have to see.

Just watching the news now, said we are going to get 8-16" snow with 3-4 ft. drifts, 50 mph winds here in Northern OK. WE'll see how it goes.
Right now, I have several of our big tree branches snapped by the heavy ice, our newly planted white pine trees are laying over on their sides, not sure if they'll survive the storm or not. Went out to feed the horses and they have huge chunks of ice on their tails, tried to help them by shaking them off, but no luck.
They are talking about us losing power through the night, sure hope not, but have gas stove that runs off propane if we need heat, will move the mattress in the kitchen and be ok.
We knew it was coming and got all of our stuff the other day, but I'm sure plenty of idiots were out fighting the last minute stuff in the ice today, don't know we stayed home! :)
Hang in there everyone, hopefully this will be the last of the winter blast for the year, at least for our area, don't know about up north.

WEll that was fun, electric was shut off for the last 2 hours, sure made me do some extra thinking about what I need for when that happens! I was soooo glad to have my wind up flashlight and the latest issue of Countryside to get me through it!
The kids 2 and 5 did well, gave them a wind up flashlight and they had a ball! That's definately something I'm going to buy more of! Stay warm! I'm expecting the lights to go off again throughout the night, brrr....

Sun was out this morning - most of the roads are clear. WE were glad to get this snow - we've hardly had any moisture here in DEnver metro or the eastern CO plains this winter.
No power loss, so that was good. I think another storm next week - bummer since I have to drive up to Casper, WY next week.
BTW - hope all in ND have been able to get out if needed...

No barn for the horses? :(
Here in northern Indiana we're supposed to get 3-6" of the white stuff overnight tonight. I swear I'm going out with my rake tomorrow... even if I have to wear mittens and earmuffs.
SPRING IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We would have gotten the 8-12 inches they predicted here - if the wind hadn't've been howling for 36 hours at 50 mph. As it was the drifts were huge and are still - after a week - high and tight! LOL
More to come tonight and tomorrow. I'm lovin it - where the snow is melting the grass is greening up, and the tulips have stuck up their little heads.

Oh man, Boris, you got it earlier than we did then. What did you wake up to this mornin'?
I woke up at 7am to nothing but slight rain coming down but as I was standin' at my living room window, drinkin' my coffee, I watched as the rain turned to snow. It's almost 3 hrs. later, as I type this, and the snow is coming down and everything is dusted white... but I can't imagine it amounting to much. I might be wrong but that's just my gut feeling, with what I'm seein' here.
What's your general locale in Michigan? I have a daughter in southern Michigan. I wonder how much they got or are getting?
Yep, you're right... no rakin' today. ::)

EarthMama,
Nope, no barn for the horses and it makes me mad!
I'm on my DH's rear to get a lean to built for them.
That is why I will not allow any other animals on my place until each animal has the proper protection from weather.
If I had the means to build it myself I would.

I wouldn't think a lean to would be too hard to build, Southerngirl. Maybe if you had the lumber delivered and started working on it, hubby would feel sorry for ya and help out. ;)
Sometimes that's the way things end up working out around this place.... and, then again, sometimes I end up finishing the whole project by myself and feel rather proud.
Either way is a win-win, I figure.

I also live in Northern Oklahoma. The prediction here was for 1/4 inch of ice which we got and 6" to 12" of snow.
We only got 3" of snow so we hit it lucky. The Pine tree in my yard bowed down a little but that was all. The Pecan tree in the backyard usualy drops limbs of various sizes even in a light wind dropped nothing.
Roads were a bit slick but not too bad.
I sa on the news last night that FT. Supply near the Oklahoma Panhandle got 25" of snow. There wer still pictures sent in to the news that showed snow drifts from 8' to 12"
I cranked the heat up a bit and that was it. 25" of snow is nothing for some of you but here in Oklahoma that is considered a significant amount.
We have a Pygmy Goat and a Mniture Horse so we checked on them several times. No problems with them. The goat is anhydrous, she hates rain and runs to her lean-to at the first sign of rain. The horse stays out in rain and snow as if it is no big deal. Once in a while he will go into his lean-to.
The dogs have the garage anda lean-to to get out of the weather. We have two Chihuahuas, one is 12 years old and only goes out in good weather. The other one is about 10 months old and insists on going out to play no matter how cold, rainy or snowy it is.

*lol* I enjoyed reading about your animals, jebrown. Sometimes I think we humans should be more like them... whatever the weather, go out and have fun in it. :)
I don't know about anybody else but I think 25" of snow is alot for anybody!! At one time!
Thanks for sharing what's going on, on your homestead.

We must have been on the back side of it because we only got about 1 inch at the cabin and by the time we left for home it was gone.

I'm back to working in the yard too, Flatwater. Our snow didn't stick around too long, thank goodness!! Once I've been outside in my shorts and bathing suit top, working in the yard, it sure is awful hard to go back to my easy chair watching the snow come down. UGH!! But hopefully that's all over now for a long time!!

Here we go again - 12" predicted here by tomorrow. Hasn't really snowed that much all winter so I guess we are just due...
