Have any of you switched to soy wax for candles? Many, many benefits including burn time, lack of soot, lack of chemicals.

I cannot alwaus get beeswax around here in Brandon, MS, and we have many soybean farms so soybean wax is plentiful. I use the soy wax for filling empty food jars (not Ball canning jars, but other jars). I make my own wick out of kitchen string dipped in the melted wax and a small not or washer on the bottom end in the jar. They work great for emergency candles. Pound for pound, soy wax in bulk is cheaper than beeswax, but doesn't smell as heavenly as the beeswax.

I don't how to actually make the wax. I buy it already made from a farmer. I found out last night at the hospital that they are switching to corn for ethanol production so I'll have to find another source. I do know that the wax is mechanically removed from the beans and refined, but I don't know more than that.
