you get an e-mail from ups or fedex stating they were unable to deliver a pkg to you - they then direct you to answer with an e-mail in order to verify the "invoice" - this activates the virus -

do not reply ! ! ! - you can authenticate this warning by checking with snopes -

Good warning, they also use DHL and UPS in these emails, best to always be careful and never click on a link in an email if you can help it, type the address into your browser instead.

Some of those emails also have attachments.

A good rule to follow, in addition to not clicking on unknown links, is to also not open an attachment from someone you don't know and/or one that you are not expecting.
