We been in the single digits today and will dip below 0 tonight. We also got 6 inches of snow lastnight and with that I was busy most of the mornin blowing and shoveling snow. Last night the local news said we have 10 inches more snow now that we did last year at this time and we beat the 6th snowiest yr on record last year. Thank god for global warming I hate to see what it be like without it ::) ::) ::).

It's 56 now, but the weather servce is predicting 29 Saturday morning. I know that may not seem like much to most of yall, but it's pretty chilly for central Florida. In fact if it does reach 29 here it will be a record low. The record is 30 set in 1965. It's supposed to stay below normal until next weekend.

It's 2 degrees right now. With the wind chill it is supposed to go down to -19 tonight, and for tomorrow the high is 20. However by Sunday they're predicting temps in the 50's for three days. It's snowing lightly but it is a very dry snow, no good for snowballs or sculptures. It isn't even piling up in drifts. I think Kansas is getting my snow!!! ;D

Like Cil-around 80---but here's the kicker-heat brought by the most vile of winds--Santa Anas--whole Inland Empire a dust bowl, skin so dry I feel like a lizard, tipped over trucks on the freeways.....oh yeah, SoCal weather is great..... >:(

The window is too frosted over to see the gauge but forecast for tonight is -25º. Our house is well insulated but I can still feel the cold sucking the heat out of my body & I'm sitting 3' from the wall. Tomorrow's highs will be below zero.

They're like a river of hot air funnelling thru passes---as they taper off the 'river' gets narrower. Some areas like Fontana get it no matter how narrow the stream. Why don't they mention these winds in the slick Cali travel brochures? ::) Those who have never lived here seem to think it's girls in bikinis year 'round----WRONGO---in the summer the hills burn, in the winter they slide, then the winds come...... >:(

-6 now, supposed to drop to -19 tonight; after zero, what's the diff?! Too dang cold! It might get all the way up to 7 tomorrow, though! Yay! a heat wave!
MNMom - you have a house that pops? That is so cool! I grew up in one. I don't know if it's true, but Mom used to tell us it was the nails in the roof popping up through the tar from the contraction of the roofing materials in the cold. It was like a rifle shot every so often - at random, and all winter long. (Wonder how many nails were left in the DOWN position after a long, cold winter!!) Then dad installed "baseboard heat" and the copper pipes would go BANG bang bang bang bang . . .(quieter and quieter as the hotwater circulated & expanded the copper farther away!) I had forgotten how noisy winter used to be!

Cold eh?
Why when I was *a young'un back there in CT, Waterbury to be exact, one christmas moring we got up and it was 12 degrees below zero. I was worried my mom and dad would try to weasle out of coming for Christmas. I talked them into it bysaying SURELY it would get warmer (it was sunny) as the day went on. That afternoon (still light) it was 22 BELOW. I guess it was around Christmas 78-80,in there somewhere.
Weather in Ct was a lot different when I was a kid. It was COLD, fridgid even by halloween, and I saw it snow on May 12th when I was in high school, eons ago. And I saw snow on the ground which was a big surprise, on September 15th one
15 degrees in CT maybe considereded cold now, but when was a young'un back in West Haven, the sound would freeze just about every year so you could walk out to that rock about 200 yards offshore.
We had blizzards in November and even in April, Easter surpise one year.
JUST REMEMBERED...Bradley Rock...

you all remember the winter of 77?
with the windchill we had temp. of below 70 below. I remember it started on my birthday, we had been collecting flagstones down be the creek for a hearth and the weather report said blizzard. it started at around 5 PM. On March eleven( day my grandma died) it finally got above freezing, hubby went out in a t shirt it seemed so warm. Luckily there was a lot of snow, we shoveled it around our little fruittrees and in spring we noticed everything that was sticking out of the snow was frost killed.

Our little house sits on a slab. The "bangs" in the night are loud enough to wake the dead.
got down to 4 last pm. had ice on the INSIDE of my tent, & I forgot to put the water in the pot for coffee this am, instead it was frozen in the jug, not to come out... so no coffee... but then who's complaining ? I myself was nice & toasty..... until I got outta the sleeping bag that is :)

Has been hovering at 0 and below for past 4 days. Been a while since we have had cold like this. Trying to keep the pipes from freezing. We also have about 2 feet of snow on the grow, a foot of which has fallen in the past 24 hours. Have not left the house at all. Feeling badly for my birdies though. About the time I throw something out on the sidewalk, the snow covers it up.

It was 25 below here the other night. Today felt downright spring-like at 29 above.
It's actually quite beautiful out when it gets that cold. The air is so clear it seems to ring like a bell, and the stars come within reach. Sunrise is a gentle dance of pink, robin's egg blue, and purple rising higher in the sky until the bright orange sun breaks the horizon. I love watching it all while I drive to work.
Jen, it's not really that big a deal, though it's hard on the animals and the propane bill. My twenty year old car even started right up. Though I did have a bit of a hassle trying to fix the snowblower and putting the parts back on without taking my gloves off.
I admit it's awfully tempting to just stay in my warm bed on these frosty mornings!
