Hey, anyone live around the Scranton area? Hope to start a food group with like minded folk. Note: I`m Euro-centric to a fault.

Nope, I'm am about as far away from you in Pennsylvania as a person can get. I am in the Northwest corner, in Crawford County. It's a super nice place to live, with a lot of like minded people. Food Co-op in nearby Erie, farmers markets, etc.
I really like living here.

I'm in Southeast PA, near Reading. Looks like we're pretty well spread out over over the commonwealth. Anyone else out there in SEPA?

catrules, I sell at the Meadville market House on saturdays, right in the center front of the market house, lots of potatoes & onions. Are you are regular?
Gotta agree, there is just no better place. But lets not encourage anymore to move in!

I'm from NEPA. The wonderful place that brought you sexting
and juvie court judges on the take. I Love my land, just hate the politics.

We live in NE PA near lake Wallenpaupack (35 minutes to Scranton). Not exactly homesteaders, yet do raise a bunch of veggies on our 3/4 acres. Most of our time is spent restoring an 1860 Victorian (in the process of selling our 1st resto, 1817 farmhouse). We plan on not moving from here anytime soon.

I'm in NEPA...
I homestead.
I can direct you to where you can buy in bulk if you need. As far as a buying club. If we get enough folks with cash(big if). I could be interested.
For starters try

You can also buy from here. They have the same exact stuff as above but you can buy small quantities or sample. They do charge higher prices than above but it may not be once you figure in shipping.
They are in harveys lake.

Yup, in the woods in the Poconos. We, sometimes, go to the SGL's in Archibald and use the firing range. (Nice range, rarely crowded.) Ever since gas prices went completely crazy, though, we've been staying closer to home.
Keep meaning to go to the Scranton Farmer's Market during the week. One of these M/W/F days we'll get around to it. Besides, my Italian wife loves eating at Cafe Classico on Mulberry Street. (Maybe I do, too.) ;)

Stinger, The newly opened SGL range in Tobyhanna is pretty decent as well, just don't go on a weekend.

Near Lewisburg but originally from western PA near DuBois. My job gets me all over the state (and a few others) so I love to know of any good places to check out from places to get good food buys to general stores with unique gear and of course gun shops. Always looking for good deals.
I truly think we are blessed and sometimes we take our surroundings for granted. I read here in the blog about folks scouring high and low to find manual power this or that, having to find one at an auction or at an expensive online place that then rips them on shipping. I'll bet many of us knows where there's either an Amish shop or store that caters to the Amish that has a few of this or that sitting on a shelf and that don't cost a fortune. Heck the Amish are the ultimate Homesteaders for the most part, though even they have gotten "soft" with some of our conveniences I'm sure.
Just wanted to say hi to everyone here that lives in our beautiful state. I hope to get to know y'all better and maybe at some point even meet a few face to face. :)
