I am pretty sure that is what happened to my cat. she was 13, but still as good as new. yesterday she came running on the porch in alarm, acted like she was going to puke, then fell on her side, laying there breathing shallow and not moving. later she got up and went under theporch where you can not get to. this morning she came out and cried in pain, it must have been bad. the vet put her to sleep. she was my cat, and I loved her. she gave paw and rolled over, complained of bad weather, came when I called her and even answered. My dear kitty cat. We have to have a real funeral for her when my son (mentally handicapped) gets here, I know it is going to be very hard on him, he was crying yesterday. And I want to plant a pale pink knock out rose on her grave.

Most of the time they either get into rat poisoning or anti-freeze. Mine have lived from 24 down to 16 years. Have none now as am getting to old for a young one that would outlive me probably but do tend to some strays outside. As I catch them they get neutered and then let back loose. I probably spend as much for their food a month as my own food. But what the heck--one of them at least lets me pet him--ha. No more inside ones though--just the outside strays.
For non animal lovers--

they are not only our pets but become a part of our family. You give them love and in return they give you both love and permit us to share their home because once here--the home belongs to them.
Animal lovers know exactly what I mean--right?

I am sorry for your loss.
I never was a cat person until I was conned into taking a sick one home.
Non pet people don't realize how much they become part of the family.

I am not a cat person, but I do know what it means to be a pet owner. I am sorry for your loss.

Bookwormom, I am truly sad for your loss. I've only had two cats in my life that I loved, and I loved them with alla my heart...

When our collie of many years passed away we went 6 months without replacing her... Then one day at the grocery store, my daughter and I stood looking at a bag of Purina dog chow with tears rolling down our cheeks... There was a lovely collie so much like our Sheba on that bag. I brought another collie baby home. It was the best thing I could have done. The new baby helped our hearts to heal. We all knew nothing could replace our Sheba. We all began to love a new friend, though, and the pain eased up.

'Wish I could make it better.... Bearhugs... :D

I'm so sorry.

Did you happen to use a flea product recently? They have reactions to flea products more often than dogs do, but they don't usually die.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
For some of us they are kinda like our children. especially if you don't have any.
May God bless & comfort you & your son.

Sorry for your loss. Is it possible she may have been hit by a car? Did the vet have anything to say about it? Did he examine her before putting her to sleep? My cat has collapsed before and they never figured out what it was, thought maybe it was low blood sugar. My cat will let out horrid screams and look wild before throwing up hair balls too. Let's hope that it wasn't a poisioning but if you have any other pets keep them close to home just to make sure they stay safe. It's hard to believe people can be so heartless as to poision an innocent animal but it does happen. I've had 2 of my pets killed by hateful people too.
