Here is our 9 year old Weimaraner, we drove to Chicago to get him from a shelter, he was 1 1/2 then, it seems like he has been with us forever. I believe we will always have one.

I've always liked Weimeriners, but hunting dogs wouldn't do well with our livestock...

Here is our crazy dog, Jake. He's a great homestead dog. Takes care of livestock, keeps everyone in their assigned place. Will fall over himself stopping in mid chase of stray dogs or deer if we call him back. Now if he could just get over the nasty bout of gas he's had the last few days!

Here is Jewel, "The Queen of Denial". She is a 7 year old rough coat Border Collie. She is a rescue dog that was very abused, we got her at about 3 years of age. It took several months to socialize her, we even had to "teach" her to play! She still doesn't trust men all that much - her main tormentor must have been male we're thinking. Her main fun seems to be hearding all the other dogs at the dog park...

Here's 4 out of 5. The 5th little $#@! rat dog hates me, so he won't come out from behind the couch unless Lisa is home. Dunno why, but he's hated me since the day she brought him home 4 years ago.

The basset is Hank, the beagle is Copper, the bloodhound is Austin, and the black and white one is Ace. Looks like they all sure have a hard life, doesn't it? LOL

I love hounds too Grizz...like that isn't obvious, lol. I've ALWAYS had hounds. Grew up with beagles for rabbit hunting, the people beside us had fox and coon hounds, and our friend across the road had more beagles. I spent one year with the ex without a dog and I hated it. As soon as we moved out by my folks, I got myself 2 good rabbit beagles. When I left her and was living with a friend, he had a GIANT (160lb) lab, so I was ok lol. As soon as Lisa and I bought this house, we got Copper. I'll never, never be without a dog...though I won't ever have FIVE again! Love 'em all, but dayummmmm, its a bit much! $40 every 2 weeks for food, $110 for flea meds, shots, vet bills, oooooffff.

Austin was Lisa's xmas present 9 years ago at the tune of $1000, buttttt........I never recieved a bill from the CC company! Yayyyyyy free dog right??? WRONG! LOL Butthead decided to get out of the gate and wrestle with a Buick. 3 days in doggie ICU and $2000 later, he came home to a teary eyed Lisa. Yanno....I wasn't gonna share that story here, but I'm going to in a short cliffnotes version.

Austin runs right around 125lbs, Ace is around 55-60lbs. When Austin was hit, Ace was with him. The lady who was driving the car came to the house to tell us what happened, and asked where "that black dog" was. She said that right after she hit Austin, the black dog (Ace) grabbed him by the collar and dragged him off the road. The reason we knew something was wrong was Ace was at the door barking, and he NEVER barks at the door. I walked to the door to see what was wrong, and there was Ace and that lady who told me what happened. That 55lb dog pulled his 125lb dog to safety and came to get us!!! We *almost* changed his name to "Hero" that day. When Austin came home from the vet hospital, Ace walked around him crying, but somehow knew his friend was still in pain. Austin had his own giant bed on the floor (we tossed down a fouton matress for him) and Ace layed with him, not touching but laying close, and never left his side until it was time to eat or go outside for a week. That day made me realize that dogs too know the meaning of friendship.

Hi, I am LaDonna and wanted to post pictures of our dogs but I can't figure this out. My pictures are on my computer so how can I get them here where you can see them.

PaulNKS
11-15-2009, 06:09 AM
To post a picture you have to already have them on the internet somewhere. If you have your own blog or website, you can upload them to there. If not, you can use photobucket to store photos. Then you click on the photo icon...

http://www.backwoodshome.com/forum/vb/images/editor/insertimage.gif
http://www.backwoodshome.com/forum/vb/images/editor/separator.gif

Then when a little window pops up, type in the url of the photo, or copy and paste it.

The other option is to do it as an attachment. To do that, click on the paperclip. It will then let you upload and attach a photo to your posting.

Just keep in mind that photos must be no more than 620 pixels wide by 280 pixels long and no larger than 25kb. This makes it easier for people on dial up.

thanks for info on posting a picture, I guess I will need to subscribe to photobucket soon.

I have a Corgi that is a little on the fluffy side and her name is missy and she talks all the time. My family get upset because of all the barking, but I have to explain to them, she is 'talking'.
then i have a runt, Sugar Bear. she is part dachund, chihuahua and pekingese and she is very small, less than 6 pounds. I will post pictures soon.

Here is a photo from this spring before my digital camera broke. We had just rescued Bruschi-(named after the New England Patriots player who had a stroke) He was so skinny when he came to us! You can see his ribs and hip bones in this photo, but he has fattened up nicely now. Tigger (also a rescue) is our older male, and king of his house. Notice he has the prime spot in "the big chair"

Everybody has such beautiful dogs.:D

Tod, your pics look professional quality! Were they taken with a digital camera?

Sbemt, is your dog a Great Pyr?

I will have to load a pic or too into Photobucket and then get a pic of my dog up here.

Thanks, Deep South

They were taken with a (now obsolete model) Fuji Finepix S5000 digital camera. If they are nice, it is thanks to the camera and the ability - with digital - to shoot oodles and oodles of pictures until I get one that I like! :yes4:

Here is my dog as a puppy last year during one of the very rare times it has snowed in south Louisiana. She loved the snow and was chasing snow flurries.

This photo was taken at my parents' house by my father with his digital camera.

I don't know what breed/s she is, as I adopted her from a shelter. She was picked up as a stray.
