What can i try short of going to a vet for too big bucks i cant afford.
If i cant handle it myself, it is probably a tooth problem and needs a vet. love alma

I'm assuming we are talking dog here. Have you tried brushing his teeth? When you do so look for something stuck in them. That would be the easiest thing to do. Don't use toothpaste, most of the ingredients are not good for dogs.

When we brought home our basset, he had awful teeth since all he was ever given was wet food. A friend told us what to do, and it worked well. Make a paste out of baking soda. Maybe flavor it with beef seasoning, we used bullion broth. The hard part might be getting them to sit still. He just sat there and didnt mind.....tried it on the bloodhound and he was a 125 lb tag team wrestler lol good luck with it.
