My dog is driving me NUTS!

He keeps coming up to me and wimpering. I thought it was because he wanted to go for a walk, (The kids normally do this) since the kids are not here today, I took him for about a half mile walk and he was ok for about an hour, now he is back wanting.......something. I know he has bad hips, and he is about 10 years old, figure he doesn't have too many years left. Just trying to figure out what he wants. It may have something to do with, we don't let him go out in the front yard anymore, he was taking off and would be gone for an hour or more, before he would come back and since we live in the suburbs, we can't let him do that. He has never been a dog that would fetch, he has some toys in the back yard, which is good sized, with lots of room to run, atleast for houses around here. Any ideas?

Hmm. My dog does that when something is out of place. Like a bird on the wrong side of the fence or something. He's trying to tell you something for sure. Does he have fresh water? Maybe he's just missing the kids and wonder where you put them. ;-) Jake would do something like that - he's finally used to the fact that 5 days a week Kurt leaves for a while then comes back but if he's not back "on time" he gets antsy too!

Does he have fresh water? It is a little warm out.

Ya, he has good water and food. But now that you mention it, the only time I remember him doing this is when everyone is gone and it is just me and him. hmmmmmmmm.
