From searching web, daughter says there are about 50 pages of complaints that is costing people big bucks.
We want to get rid of ours without costing us an arm and leg.
What can we do to get rid of it and not get broke in the processs.
They have people on a short string with all kinds of punishments.
How can we get out of their clutches. Any advice will be appreciated. love, alma

If you have a contract with them then you will need a reason to cancel such as poor reception breach of contract on thier side. Do you own the equipment or do they.

How much longer do you have on your contract?
Is there a problem with it or is it because it cost to much?
Unfortunately they are very difficult if not impossible to deal with.
If they have a credit card or debit card number they will make a charge against it and then give you the run around when you try to get your money back.
If they have a debit card number they will over draw your account and then you will get hit with bank fees on top of everything else they
do to you.
Not a good company to deal with if you want out or have a billing problem.
Good luck

We moved 3000 miles because they shipped my job to India just like all of their "help" desk, haven't hooked the direct TV back up and don't intend to but still obligated until August to pay for nothing. THis is a worthless company in my opinion.

Never again will I pay for ANY TV service! There is nothing but junk on anyhow!
They sure better cut the charges after the obligation ends - haven't got to that point yet.

I know soemtimes they will release you early if you pay a penalty and return equipment. I have no Idea what the charge would be.

This shows what kind of company they are.
I am going to have to audit my bill to see if I am getting overcharged like others seem to be.

I used to work for DirecTv as a customer service rep. I liked DirecTV over DISH network MUCH better. A few years ago, DISH was trying to take over DirecTv and with the help of the National Rural Telephone Cooperatives ( NRTC) we were able to stop DISH from being able to do that. Back then. DirecTV was a company I liked.

Since then, DirecTv has basically stabbed our cooperative in the back. So much so that we quit selling Directv and are starting to sell our own cable, instead.

ALMA- What are the terms of your contract? Usually, you agree to a year's contract if you have the equpiment installed for a low promotional price or for free. Generally, if you want to give up service, before the end of the contract, the fee to do so equals the amount that you would pay for the programing.

How much time do you have left?

Personally in the past, I have went ahead and paid the penalty for early termination of the contract. I would rather pay a couple hundred dollars as opposed to paying a large sum every month and still have problems. I had Direct TV and I hated them, right now I have Dish and have had it for 3 years, and I do not have any complaints. I know with Direct TV, they were always raising my bill, and Dish hasn't done it yet.
