Not too long ago, I had to put down my female dobie, a faithful little girl of 12 years. At the time, I also had a male dobie and a female "dobie-weiler". My female dobie had an endearing habit of walking beside me and nibbling on my fingertips to let me know that she was there. After she was gone, I missed that nibbling. A month or two after she was gone, the female dobie-weiler started nibbling on my fingertips, something she had never done before. I find it comforting, but it sort of freaks me out!

It could be she's just trying to "fill in". When my Yorkie was alive, he always slept in the bed with me, usually curled against my stomach. My Boston always slept in his dog bed right beside my bed. I never could convince him to join us.
A month or so after the Yorkie died, he just decided one night to jump up on the bed with us......and curled up right against me just like Nikki (Yorkie). I think he was just trying to fill in for Nikki. Maybe he sensed how much I missed him....*shrug*. Any way, that's where he slept from then on.....until we lost him to a snake bite about 8 years ago.

could the finger attractant be gravy ? kinda like the kid whose pup would only love on him when he had a porkchop tied around his neck -
