I need two more dogs like a hole in the head. Saturday we were leaving home and saw these two puppies trying to hide at the road side. This picture shows them after five days of stoking them with food and two days of a wormer. They are blasting out worms in unbelievable quantities. Both are good pups, and it really torques me off that folks can dump dogs rather than take responsibility for them. They wouldn't have to worry about unwanted puppies if they'd just get their dog fixed. No telling what happened to the rest of the litter.

The one on the right has a great color coat. Glad to hear you stepped up and are taking care of them. Perhaps you can throw and ad up and give them away.

We live on a dead-end road near an interstate exchange. We are constantly getting dogs and cats dumped here; either from locals who think "this is a good spot" or runaways from travelers who don't want to confine their pets when they stop for gas or food or overnight.
The cats gravitate to my house (I have about 20) where they keep down the snake and small critter population; the dogs my neighbor tried to adopt but finally started taking them to the pound.

I have neighbors who have 17 and 13 dogs respectively. All outcasts. We have not lived here long and only had two. I say two because last week we lost our blue heeler due to a very tragic accident. :'( :'( :'( We'll miss him for a long time. what a good dog. When he showed up here half starved I was sure whoever threw him away could not take his hyperactive ways. But my husband is an angel with critters.

My guess is that those two pups have pitt bull blood in them. No problem is you treat them nice as my Athena is half pitt bull. The reason I'm making this guess is the one on the right, with the black and tan brindle coat, looks just like Athena did when she was younger.
If you keep them make sure you and your family play with them and teach them manners. They can be very loving, protective pets and probably will enjoy romping with any kids you may have or that visit you!

So far, so good. Today was a return visit to the vet. Distemper, parvo shots and starting heart worm. They are smart and well-behaved for pups. The vet guessed pit bull or mountain cur and about 4 months of age. Being puppies, they have teeth like needles. When fighting/playing with each other, they get particularly viscous and loud. We have had occasion to start teaching them that chasing chickens is a bad thing. They respond well to voice and work hard for approval.

They look like Cur's. If so they are a fine breed.
The dog In the book Old Yeller was a Cur (but a lab was used in the movie) Cur's are loyal family dogs known to give their lives protecting children. They are full of fire and grit and will take on any animal from a coon to a bear and never hesitate. It is a shame for folks to dump out any animal. I would count this a blessing if they were on my doorstep tonight.

They are sweet little dogs. Four dogs is a bit much, we were good at 2, but these poor devils really needed a friend. They have grown into fine pups and are very anxious to please. They are beginning to respect the poultry, but I still don't trust them without adult supervision. They have torn up the turkeys twice, but respond well to commands and are coming along. Ya never know what life is going to wash up on your doorstep.
