You can buy drop in trigger kits at Brownells and a few other sites, other than that I would recommend you take it to a gunsmith to have trigger work done.

There are a lot of places to send your own trigger for work, and a lot of drop-in aftermarket triggers, the best of which is Kidd. Google is your friend.

If I had a 10/22 that I wanted to work on, I would do this.

Buy a kit from one of the parts places. Like Brownells, Kidd and others that I don't know about.

Install said parts per instructions and enjoy. The LAST thing I would try, is to modify the existing parts. It seems it would be too easy to make some dangerously modified parts.

But that is just my thoughts on the matter.......

It's really quite easy. On eBay there's a guy who will do a trigger job for a little over $40. http://tinyurl.com/ycrejfz

I would take it to a local gunsmith and he can probable do it for $40. There's a lot to be said for supporting your local gunsmith.

I understand the Timney trigger is a great replacement, and it is adjustable as well.

MidwayUSA has it $4.00 cheaper.

If you decide that you are going to put a new trigger in, get the matched trigger and sear kit. The other problem with the 10-22"s is that there is too much sideways slop in the receiver between the inside parts. Brownells also sells a shim kit made by Ron Powers. The shims make a major difference in getting the trigger and sear to mate correctly. I have had 10-22"s come into my shop where the trigger would hang up on the sear because they were not parrellel to each other. The shims are just the one final thing to add to insure that you get the best and safest trigger possible.

I have redone a few triggers on 10-22s, the best one was done by using a Power Customs trigger kit that included the hammer, sear, shims and springs. You can also take yours apart and simply give all contacting surfaces a good polishing, this helps smooth out your triggers pull. You need to make sure you do not change any angles on the sear or hammer, doing so could cause an unsafe trigger that will go off unexpectedly.

All you really need is the Valquartsen Target Hammer. Works great to make it a lighter and MUCH crisper trigger pull.
