Can't say. I think I'd look more "put together" if I was carrying. :yes4: The one I have is awfully heavy. Any recommendations for a nice, lady-like little weapon that will fit in my handbag and not break my shoulder?

Hi Dayzee, here is one for your concideration :

And a BWH thread it came from. The thread might be helpful too :

I'd recommend a Kahr. http://www.kahr.com/PA-1_9mm.html
I gave the link to the 9mm but all their offerings seem to be good little pocket or purse pistols. I owned a MK40 but the grip was just too small for my hand. It had a bit of a kick to it as well. I'd suggest the Hornady Critical Defense or Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel, both manufactured for short barrel home or self defense handguns.

I definitely agree. Armed and dangerous ladies are to be feared -- by those plotting evil against those same ladies.

Thanks to all who responded! I appreciate your taking the time to get back to me. I don't know what I am going to do. I recently met a gal who says she is certified and can teach me what I need to know. After we get past all of this holiday stuff, maybe.....

My two nephews got bb guns for Christmas. After everything was cleaned up we went out back to shoot the new guns plus all the other bb/pellets guns we had. Long story short both my girls ages 5 and 11 had a blast shooting the bb guns. Yeah I know it is really not a gun but my 11 year old wants a bb gun now. Figure for her birthday I'll get her one and start her off. By the time she hits 12 I will get her a .22 and see how that goes. With a .22 she can take small game. And if she likes the .22 and game hunting and wants to continue well the skys the limit. Just glad she is comfortable with a gun and wants to shoot.

No its not a gun per say but its a way to start gun safety and basic skills. They can learn targeting and handling skills. BTW bb guns are classified as guns by most states and are not toys. We just had an officer involved shooting when the bad guy pointed a bb pistol at the officer guess who won. Cant tell the difference.

I'd like to add a Raven .22 is easily concealed. Fits in the back pocket or purse pretty well. I love mine. Of course for around the house I have my 12 gauge and steadily shopping for a .22 rifle. Glad you found someone to help you learn how to handle your weapon. That's half the battle right there.

Think it depends on the size of the purse you carry :) Personally, I do not carry a purse, I either have a tote or a back back (fond of Vera Bradley collections:) due to carrying files, and books around all the time. The smaller handguns, just do not feel right in my hands, being just shy of 6ft, I have big hands and prefer something that does fits my hand over size of gun. I just picked up a Taurus and it fits perfectly in my bag :). I will be getting a CCW due to one of the jobs I have and the threat of personal harm that is always a risk. So, fit was better for me than size, I wanted to be comfortable in holding and shooting. Good luck in finding your perfect fit.

I am going to get my ccw and maybe it is a guy thing but if I am going to carry concealed I am going to carry something that will kill on impact. I am not going to wound somebody so they may flee to get more friends or draw there weapon and use it on me or anybody else. For me a .38, 9mm or .40 is the caliber of said weapons. Personally looking at a Hi Point in .40 s&w http://www.hi-pointfirearms.com/handguns/40sw/hi_point_40sw.html would love a Colt 1911A1 in .45 but thats a lot to hide.

O what fun! BBs are definitely weapons in my part of this wide world: pointing anything, knife, stick, gun or whatever, and you are up for assault, no questions asked. Recently, a man was arrested for shooting some fellow who was relieving himself in the street outside an apartment in India: BB wound in the shoulder. Dang, missed! 'If dung were snow, India would be a perpetual winter wonderland.' [personal remark from from Norwegian tourist in 1989] As one of the comments on the original FB post was that the woman in the pic 'was naked', my ire was aroused at this stiff-necked ignorance. Carry on.

I bought my 6 year old grandson his first bb gun this year for Christmas. He has used others before with supervision but this is his first own bb gun. My Granddaughter will get the same when she turns 5 (she is 3 now). She is quite the shot with a BB gun already at 3. We use the BB guns to introduce them to how to safely handle firearms and target practice. Grandson is already asking for a 22 rifle. I figure we will play it by ear. I have a single shot 22 rifle that was my youngest sons that he will get when the time seems right. Each person/child is different. Of course we had permission from son and ex-daughter-in-law before we purchased the BB gun for him.

When dating my soon-to-be-Dh, I bought myself a Ruger P95 9mm that I love and which fits in my hands perfectly, but it is a bit bulky & heavy to carry in a handbag.
Then Christmas 2007, my Dh gave me a cute little 6 shot Rossi .357 revolver - I love it!! Though I admit that my fingers are a bit short-changed when it comes to having enough to hold onto, it's still plenty small enough to fit it & a spare box of ammo into the center console of my Suburban. And since I got my CCP (here in Utah you don't have to qualify with a gun anymore, you just take a class) a year ago, I don't worry about much when I have that little beauty with me. After our last home was broken into several times jsut before Christmas, I started carrying the Rossi everywhere with me & when I go west to the big cities I also take it with me then too.
