I remember a bathing mixture being discussed on here for washing the dog to get rid of the skunk smell. 1 ingredient was peroxide (I think 1 T per gallon of water) but there was more. The goal is to cut the oils in the skunk spray so I am thinking something like lemon juice was the other ingredient. I will need to do the bedding with this cleaning solution also.

I can't afford "professional" solutions so any help would be appreciated.

Thanx,

Lobo

People always say tomato juice but that didn't work for us the two times we had the skunk problems. I don't remember what it was called, that worked, but search the internet for names of chemicals or products that counteract perfumes. Skunk musk/spray whatever is the primary ingredient in perfumes, it is used to make the scents last longer than they would on their own.

Sorry I don't remember the name, haven't had skunk vs dog troubles in years. Should have written it down, sure enough I will need it again someday.

Hey Lobo I had my dog get sprayed by a skunk and the vet gave me this recipe and it worked great! Much better than tommato juice. 4 bottles of peroxide 1 cup dish soap and 1/2 cup of baking soda. I dont think we added water. wash it wirh this and rinse it off. Let me know how it worked.

Believe it or not, try floral scented douche...I know, weird and scary to think of the chemicals that would kill skunk spray going somewhere else, but it does work!
