Our daughter gave us her cat for now because she couldn't have it in her new apt. Hubby and i just adore him, he's a good and sweet kitty and he's fun to play with. I thought some might be interested in what we've found to be his very favorite toy, that he NEVER loses interest in. It's a squirrel tail. Yes, just a plain old tail that come off a skinned squirrel, and you soak it in borax to preserve it. We attached it to the end of a stick and that way you can sit in a chair and tease him with it pretty easy and he has a ball. There must be a lingering wild essence to it because he goes after it more than catnip or any kind of toy you could buy. I just thought some of you might want to give it a try if you hunt squirrels or know someone who does, save that tail for your cat.

Another thing we've noticed with the cat is that he usually comes when we call him, but not always. But there is one thing that will ALWAYS make him come running. He can't help himself it must be some kind of instinct. All you have to do is make a scratching noise on the wall...we use a hairbrush and make scratching, tapping noises against the wall. Even though he is smart, he still comes to the scratching noise no matter how many times he comes and finds out we're only messing with him. I guess it's instinct and it sounds like a mouse and he can't resist it. I'm just learning about cats, and find these things interesting.
