Hi friends,

I haven't been around for awhile. Those of you who know me know I have been in Nevada for a very long time. I am now relocating to Montana to start a homestead there...who could resist this country??

My sweetie and I are working at buying a piece of ground there and I have been busy packing and sorting. The growing season is different there it is zone 5A and I am currently in zone 6B...so definitively colder but I am up to the challenge..so basically this is another starting over story.

I do however still have the 40 acres of beautiful ground in the north east corner of the state. I will be selling it, as much as I hate to part with it. It has always been my dream to develop it. If anyone is interested let me know. I would love to see someone who truly wants to homestead have it...elk...deer..antelope..mustangs

It is amazing at the amount of stuff I have accumulated...most of it used for my small homestead here. And as any homesteader would one of the first things to be moved to Montana was my chicken brooder coup... ;) No that was a chore to load, but is now safely in Montana. My next load of stuff...rototillar...woodstove...plant starter shelf ...and my canning stuff. Can't decide whether to tow the mustang up or not this time....I already took up a major portion of my homestead books..(I have quite a library) I am hoping to be moved by the end of summer, but I am a packrat and getting rid of this is a real hard thing for me to do..but yes I know I don't need three tents!!!

Congratulations and good luck. Montana is beautiful, but I could never live there. I really really hate being cold.
Know what you mean about being a pack rat. We moved to a smaller house last fall. Really helps you realize how much of the stuff you have you really don't need.

Good luck - looks like you've landed in a beautiful place!

As for moving a pack rat - check out www.upack.com

That's what I used to ship a 28 ft trailer packed full from WA to VA. I just felt I couldn't buy the stuff that fit in that trailer for what it cost to accumulate it. Even at that I left most all of the furniture behind. Mostly all of the farm and kitchen equipment is what fit in a trailer that big, but we will have what we need to get started here.

It's the curse of the garage sale pack rat. ;-)

Good luck with the move!

Debbie
