Mossberg 835-SHTF Gun?

Was thinking of getting one. Shoots12 ga. 3. 1/2 and down. Found rifled slugs very effective on elk size game sub 75 yds. Field loads for small game, buckshot or any load for self preservation. Seems like one gun with a variety of ammo could do it all. Was thinking a camo model with 20 or 24 inch bbl. Any thoughts?

I have a 500 with 2 barrels for the same reasons you outlined.

18.5 barrel for close in work, and a 28 for reaching out longer distances.

I would add a .22, for small game you can pack a lot more ammunition in the same space, and a 12 can turn small game into small pieces at close range.

Was thinking mid sized barrel to cover both ends and save from carrying extra barrel. Have 22 revolver in the pack.

I like that Mossberg model. And they have many available barrels and chokes to fit it. I got mine on sale at Big 5 for about $250.
