This big house is just to big for me , and im wishing to downsize and get " back to basics " whitch is the name of a very good book , put out by readers digest years back . This is going to be about setting up my tipi camp in the back woods of my property . After moving out im going to fix up a few things in the house and rent it out . With the extra money i can move more projets along faster .
5-30-09 - started looking in the woods for the best site , and for tipi poles the right size . In the book the indian tipi , thay say not to have tipi under the trees , but this is texas and shade is Cool with me , being a forest dweller . Found a grate spot looking down at the pond , in pine trees 2x bigger then the tipi poles , and thats good no big trees to fall down on tipi . Also got 5 poles cut and carryed back to the house to work on and to have then laying down on a very flat area to dry strate . I have not leared how to use my new camera and how to put photos on here , but i had a freind put some on a blog i was trying to make , if you wish to see them look up sabine homestead and if you wish to see my photo go to greensingles.com and look up profile #41544 or go to farmersonly.com and look at profile "farmsteaderetx". have a grate day ,,,, mike

I don't know about Texas, but here in CA, if don't buy/build another home within a certain amount of time, you pay a hefty tax on the money you got for selling it. I can't remember the name of that tax. Good luck!

not selling it just moving out of the house to the Back Woods of the 14 acers here , in to my Tipi . that way the renter can pay the taxes , the insurance , power , and there will steel be money left for my ag projets .

It sounds like you have a good plan, but 14 acres can sure get to feeling small, especially if you are "sharing" it.

Good luck.

I have done a lot of TP camping for about 10 years. What size TP do you have ? Mine was an 18 footer. I finally sold mine to a boy scout troop. There are some tricks to make things better. You do have a liner I hope. How is the weather where your at ?

Hi every one , Thanks for writing , Paul you are right about 14 acers being small , but this is not the praire where you can see for miles , this is the forests of east texas and my property is brocken up in forest , pastures and pond , and you cant see one from the other . The tipi i have is a 16 footer from nomadics tipi makers .
5-31-09 = a little soar this morning after carrying those poles out of the forest , so i only found and cut 3 more poles this day .
