Has anyone tried this? If so, what did you think and where did you gather your information from?

I'm still collecting information on cob. But a really helpful source is the cob cottage company. Of course I'm also still trying to find a town in New Hampshire I could feasibly build one in.

Sadly New Hampshire is having a real hard time living up to it's state motto these days. I'm thinking that another state may be a better bet. Not only is the property/land way way way overpriced here but the regulations in some areas and the lack of regulations in others is putting me off in a big way.

But back to your question - yes I'm planning on building with cob. I posted up about this a while back here:

Hope that helps

cob is good for very small houses unless you have a lot of people helping and you can get it done soon , or it will seam like a project that never ends . adobe brick making may be best , then make the big push to build the house with the bricks that are made at your leesuer and are dryed and stacked ready to go . mike

I've wanted to try it but never have. I would recommend the book The Cob Builders Handbook by Becky Bee. I've had alot of people tell me it wouldn't work in Ohio weather. So I think it depends on your climate as well.
