Got an email from our county 4-H office today that someone wanted to donate canning equip and jars to a 4-H food preservation project.
I called the number and spoke with a very nice older gentleman who's mom had passed away last year. He was finally cleaning out her house. She was an avid canner and he wanted to give her supplies to a club that would use them. I was thrilled
I told him about the families in our club and how we had taken all our projects and rolled them into one big "Homesteading" project so the kids could do all things homestead, from production to processing to preparing (food that is). He got so excited - it was cute - like he had met a kindred spirit.
Anyway - THE SCORE - no one else had called so we are getting all her canning equip, including waterbath canners and pressure canners, cases of quart jars and - gulp:) -
200 2-quart jars.
Not sure how we'll divide them up, but we'll figure that out later.
It was a bright spot in an otherwise crummy week of sparing with my ex about DD, but I'm not going there - I'm staying in my happy place and enjoying the windfall:)
