I have lived in New England for 99% of my life so far and we just had the strangest thing happen up here in NH last week. Parts of NH got hit with hurricane force winds and snow. Some forests flattened. Houses crushed from falling trees. Winds speeds recorded at 60 to over 100 miles per hour.

To heck with the politically correct term 'global warming', I call this by the Native terminology of 'Earth changes.'

Are things like this happening in your area?

No, just regular hurricanes.... About the only thing I can say is a bit different this winter is that it has lasted just a bit longer than normal, but then that does happen every several years so I can't really say it's out of the ordinary for the area where I am.

This year has been a little harder than some years in the past, but nothing compared to the East coast. I too believe it goes in cycles on the winters, but the fact that the southern states are now seeing snow when they haven't in some people's lifetimes in the south is a warning I do believe. I think we are all in "preview" mode right now and should make sure we are prepared for future winters if they were to get worse. I know we have many preps to get ready for. We did just get a welder/generator we can use if need to. This has been one of those "big purchase" items we have discussed for years, but my husband finally found a way and the right person to trade with to get it!
He's holding onto that thing like it's gold. LOL :) Glad to see him happy over something though :) This summer we are looking into getting a wood stove professional installed in our double wide. I would feel much better by having that done. And we plan on filling our propane tank as well, which is something we always say we're gonna do but don't. The "preview" has opened our eyes that is for sure... not in a scary way, but a way to know before it gets here ;)

Hi Lobo,

You must be in the southern part of the state? The state got hit pretty hard, for sure, but the southern part of the state really took it on the chin. My parents lost two large trees, one that just barely missed the house. Here in central, NH, it wasn't anywhere near as bad. Our power didn't even blink.

In Cornish one house got split in half by a large pine crashing thru it while the home was occupied.
