Finally found ammo for my .44 Special at Cabelas. I've been looking online for several months. Ordered as much as I could afford. Hard caliber to find. I'd been down to just aroiund 10 rounds. Just enough to carry in the woods when I hike.
Glad to hear you found your ammo, have you considered reloading your own?

I thought about re-loading, but couldn't make it add up with the amount I shoot vs. the time and money to get started. Don't know. But I suppose if you can't get ammo you are screwed.

Hi Ducki
How about this Lee kit?
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=423081
It's only 82$ plus shipping. Throw in a set of 44special/44magnum dies for another 22$ or so and you're all set.
I could suggest picking up a box of cast lead 240 grain SWC's and a pound of a medium-slow burning gunpowder like 2400 or Blue Dot, which I use to load both specials and magnums. Actually, I use Blue Dot for everything from 38 specials all the way up to .44 magnum and would recommend it to anyone.
Here's how the total costs break down
Press kit ~ 82$
44 die set ~ 22$
100 LSWC ~ 15$
100 primers~ 2$
1lb 2400 ~ 25$
Total you need (assuming you saved empty brass) is 146$ to make your very first 100 rounds. After that, each additional 100 rounds would cost you about 17$, till you used up your pound of powder.
Good luck,
Michael

I use this site when I'm for searching for ammo.
It does all the searching for you and tells you the price.
Looks like you bought it at the cheapest place listed.
