My husband has a bad back and is limited to what he can do. I am also limited too. I have had foot problems for three years now and just this month i had an operation on both my feet to fix the problem so i can get around better in the near future. My husbands back went to heck close to the same time as my feet. We lost alot of things in the process but i gotta tell ya, i do not care. What happened to us has been a learning expirence, i have learned how to budget more, make quilts out of our old clothes/sheets ect., make laundry soap alot cheaper than store bought, cook & bake cheaper and alot of other stuff. It has also made my husband and i alot closer, we really depend on each other much more now. We do have two boys who help alot too and that makes it nice.
Do any of you have a disability that you wont let it slow you down or bring you down?

I have multiple sclerosis.

YES! IT SLOWS ME DOWN!!!!!!!!!

But, it does not stop me. I get less done, it is true.

For Christmas this year, I got myself some construction grade weed barrier for the garden. I intend to put holes in it for no-weed peppers, melons, cukes, and tomatos. I WAS mulching to keep down the weeds, but, the garden has been getting away from me!

The sweet corn and artichokes will compete better, so they will stay mulched.

Good idea, that would save alot of time and pain from weeding. We will have to do that this year too.

Not sure if what I have would be called a disability or not, but with work related back injury and right arm injury I cant lift any more, only very light stuff, cant bend over to weed and such, cant walk long distances any more, legs will quit working. But at a slower pace and being cautious I can get most of the things done that I need to do. Hubby also helps after work and on weekends as well as our 2 boys come home as often as they can to help out.
We are all tough, we will improvise and overcome!

Have a great day!

We feel the same way as You do stella. I also have two boys that help out. They are still at home. Just because we have problems doesnt mean we cant get it done.

I to haven,t been able to do as much in the garden the last year or two. Building is very slow. Bad bones or is it old bones ;). They just don,t want ta get with the task,s at hand. I do see the point about taking it slower but i see grit in people, country style living ain,t for everyone. I don,t think i,ll ever get thing,s up ta snuff where i wantum. But i see the large print on the wall. Chickens and goat,s this spring. Well thereya go i.ll have more ta do and less ta do it with. :P Disabled or not there will be a hoe in my hand come pea planting time.
