This video shot and made in NH is one of the best representations I have heard of someone explaining why NH is so awesome. It is a parody of a Jay-Z song, but most think the NH version is much better. If you aren't used to hip hop, you may have to listen a few times to hear all the words.

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep
Thats some Robert Frost, hes our most famous poet
It was actually written up in Vermont but its associated with
The 603, where its a fact I
Dont know any Hispanics and just one black guy
You can go to Bike Week thats up in Laconia
In the winter months hit the notch in Franconia, home of
B-O-D-E our Olympic Ski Champion
He faced high pressure like my man Al Kaprielian

It is portrayed exactly the way you took it. But a deeper understanding of NH politics would show you that NH voters are very fickle. Of course NH has it's share of liberals, but they reside in the larger cities, it is the same in VT and ME. When the conservative electorate get pissed off, they do indeed throw the baby out with the bath water and they will stay home rather than vote to send a message. It has happened many times in NH history, where the Republican party supported someone other than the NH primary choice and the NH voters responded with the bird to the party by not voting in the general. There is no gray area with NH voters and no compromising of principles. " Live Free or Die " is more than just words to Granite staters, if the Fed should force something on NH that they were in opposition to, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see NH give the government an ultimatum and back it up, it is principle, not outcome that is favored. The Feds tried to force NH into motorcycle helmets and seat belts, came pretty close then, but we prevailed and Washington backed down.
Another thing about NH voters, if they smell corruption they will dump a party in a heart beat, till they can get themselves righted. The party in power will be tolerated as long as they don't pass an income tax or sales tax, that would get them tarred and feathered.

So...Why hasn't NH filed suit against the health care joke?
Are they still being fickle?
"It's" portrayed exactly the way it IS in this area!! :D
Fickleness is a scary thing!! At least in this area...right or wrong....folks are consistent!!!!

No they aren't, there is liberal Democrat control at the moment, it will change in Nov, but even if it didn't the people would force the Governor's hands eventually. Don't forget, NH was the first to propose a resolution strengthening the states 10th Amendment right, it was defeated then, but that started a snowball across the country, and it started passing in some states. It will be made law next time around. Believe me, the cities will not control the state for very long, the regular folk despise the city people and their ways.

No argument on those points about here, but fickle might not be the right word, how about we go with Principled

Also, native Granite staters wouldn't even use the NYT for toilet paper, and the editor at NYT knows that, the article must have been written for another audience.

I passed through the Granite state on the way to Maine, but didn't stop, yet I took a ride in a NH state police car.
And, NO, I didn't commit a crime!!!
Try to figure that one out!!! LOL

Nh that video cracked me up-Nice find.
I love New Hampshire too-but....
You inspired me to look around for songs about the Cape to compare to your wonderful dream State-
I don't want to hyjack your thread but the only thing I could find about where I live besides that old Cape Cod song is this really bad rap song about the snobs on the Cape. There are plenty of people around just like this-I am sure you've seen them. It is pretty funny.

:D Yes, we saw plenty of them every summer when they came up to Winnipesaukee and tried to have their way in our restaurants and stores. Those people are where the term Masshole comes from, eventually it morphed into anyone with a MA plate on their car.
I feel really bad for you CCM, you have more than your fair share of them all around you.
I have exchanged many e-mails with Christian, the rapper in the NH song. We are getting together for dinner when we go up in a couple weeks or so.
That video you found depicts the type, almost to a tee. I remember docking our boat at a restaurant on the lake once for dinner, and the dock hand made a comment about my sandels not being proper foot wear, that I should be in Sperry Topsiders,....he almost went in the drink.:D

I figured you had some experience with the "preppy" type!
Fortunately in my Town, we mostly have "Earthy Crunchy" types because of the huge influence of Woods Hole, and MBL.(Marine Biological Laboratories)
Go One Town over though and drive through New Seabury and these guys are a dime a dozen. OMG I've never heard of the term "Massholes" before! Lol! I could totally see the circumstances you described!
I love New Hampshire. Haven't been in years. Last time I was there I went to Nashua. It's so pretty up there. I've wanted to move North-may be Vermont (my dream location) myself.
My oldest just came back from Vermont over the weekend (near the Canadian border) and he woke up Sunday to snow. It's April-I don't know if I could stand that much cold.....

Forgot to add-
It's really cool that you met the guy who made the video! Have fun when you go up North-the weather should be decent by then. You gonna work on the Homestead?

When we finally get moved in, you will have to come visit, you can explore the real NH ( anything south of Concord we just call it Northern MA :D ) and since we are right on the Connecticut River, you can see VT from where our front porch will be, so prospecting VT can all be done in one day.
Christian is a real down to Earth guy, and is getting tremendous media coverage due to the song getting 1 million hits in a week. Looking forward to having dinner with them and some cocktails afterward. From his writings he seems like he will be a hoot to hang out with.
Yes, we are meeting the surveyor at the property, I couldn't find two of the pins, and besides that, I want to clearly mark out our boundaries, we have an idea where we want the house, but because we are favoring one particular side of the property for the house and orchard, ( this is where we can get the best view too ) we want to be sure of setbacks, plus we need to site the septic system that will be going in next spring.

We would love to see your place! I am sure that it will be an incredible homestead. Looking forward to seeing photos of your visit this year. Take lots!
Ditto on the invite-if ever you get a hankering for some "lobstah" and clams, drive this way!
