Babysitting

I got a part time babysitting job, every other weekend. Two little girls, ages 6 and 7. It's only 3 or 4 hours a day. What should I charge? I was thinking $6.00 an hour. Is that about right? They'll be coming to my house.

Just noticed this post and thought I'd add my 2-cents, for what it's worth.

In our area the teenage girls are getting $10 an hour and more professional daycare centers are getting close to $15. The only resonable rates were at DD's school. They charged $4 an hour for after-school care.

But, I have to say we live in CA and everything is more expensive here. You might ask a few teens what they charge, then call a coiuple of daycare centers and figure out what the average is and charge that, especially if you are experienced.
