People, the S has already HTF - so our lives continue as before - gather eggs; work the garden; stoke the wood stove; buy only what we need and only when it is on sale except for coffee and TP - you guys know how I am with my coffee and tp - It's hit. Do what prepared people and homesteaders do - live your life - try to help those you love and those aroundyou but get up every morning and do your thing - do your work - live and appreciate that even though it is cold outside, the sun is shinning and will come up tomorrow.

Well Said , Mom !

And if the sun doesn't come up tomorrow there ain't a thing in the world we can do about it - we are done.

So Bob, what is the biggest problem in your life today. Mine is getting DH in the shower because we are supposed to drive to meet some new forum friends - I have relatives living in her little burg and as it turns out she and DH both grew up in the same town in WI - talk about fate. Wondering if the tomatoes that the boys didn't cover real well last night are going to be ok and how to potty train the puppy. Other than that - we have food - too much heat - guess I stoked the stove too much and I am enjoying the gifts that God gave me - the most wonderful man in the world, a small place with good dirt to dig in - chickens and ducks that lay more than I can eat and sun on my face

Its just everyday life , Mom !

We make a list and TRY to do the things that squeal the loudest !

Here is my short list :

Worry about my wife's layoff { she is the bread-winner }

Prepping for this weeks battle with county zoning office.

Doctoring the yearling Hereford heifer.

Hoping I have enough hay to make the winter.

Hopping I have enough firewood layed back.

Canning “One Jar Meals”

Hunting the latest feral cat that has showed up and is causing problems.

Work on a foundry I have been building.

Prep the hatchery for an early spring run.

Make feed.

Get my repair shop ready for spring.

Do a little forging { need barter items }

Start prepping the greenhouse.

Pray for rain or snow !

Put more wood on the fire {literally and figuratively } and Pray some more !

Cut some more firewood.
Till the garden under.
Put leaves in composters.
Clean shop and finish welding the fireplace blower back up. Had two tubes burned through last year and haven't gotten to finish it yet.
Set green house up and prepare to start seeds.
Sale this computor so I can do the above, LOL.
I am sure I missed several things.

Bob, what sort of squabbles are you having with the planning board?

While the laws are different from place to place, myhusband still might be able to give good advice: he worked in a planning department for many years.

The to-do list is never ending. And when it does seem to end it just cycles around to the beginning again with the seasonal repetitious tasks.

Dormant oil on fruit trees.
Feed citrus.
Feed strawberries.
Prune everything.
SOS, different day.

Build chair/love seat for my wife for living room.

Start building raised beds and mulching paths in proposed garden space for next year.

Replace basement entry doors before they cave in.

Finish cleaning out the garden (amazingly the weather here in Denver has been unusually warm - so I keep putting it off).

Start making gifts for Christmas

Wait for birth of puppies! Any day now....

Start indoor lettuce and herb garden

Paint kitchen and add cabinets (hopefully can find some for free on craiglist or cheap somewhere!)

Clean out the garage ( this has been on my list for 2 months!)
