At the deer camp. Before you laugh, this is actually a fairly large bodied deer for this area. I had to go back to the camp to get someone to help me lift it onto the back of the atv. And yes, it is an OLD atv, but runs really well and it cost me nothing. Picture taken with my cell phone camera, it is not very good quality but you get the idea.

Haggled up, to be ground.

Roast off a hind quarter, cooked it with gravy for din-dins.

I didn't take a picture of the dinner, I forgot and I had actually eaten a good portion of this before I thought about it.

ETA I can't get the pic of the quarters in the ice chest to come up, don't know what I did wrong. Anyway, it was just a pic of the quarters in the ice chest, so no big deal.

Well, thankee. It was delish!

I used a .30-30, from about 150 yd. (at my best estimate) with a Leupold. I am always amazed at how much light a good scope will gather. I did not harvest this buck until nearly 8;30 a.m., which is, IMO, kind of late in the morning. If you look closely in the first picture, you can see where the shot hit.

This is the first one I have harvested this season. I had one given to me the other day minus the backstrap, so I technically have two in the freezer. I still have one buck tag and two doe tags. Don't know if I will have the chance to use them up or not.

Had way to many berries this year an they filled all my freezers and LOL probably litterly gave about a hundred gallons away to friends because I couldnt can and store but so many (grow about 7 kinds and too many of each...LOL)

Oh, we eat kind of late here in the south...maybe 8-ish? I am no wine conneseur so I will deferr to your choice. What goes with buck, onion gravy, brussels sprouts in butter and mashed potatoes? ;) A robust red? A rather less robust but still piquant rose? *??? Just teasing. How about some ice tea, no sugar?

MHinFox, if you have a lot of berries, do you make wine? It takes a lot of berries to make wine, and would be a good use for some of them. I have plums in the freezer I'm going to make wine with. I got my wine yeast order from Midwest Brewing today, and when I get time in the next few weeks I am going to make a batch.

Way to go, Gooddaughter!

My friend's 12 year old granddaughter got a 10 point buck on Saturday with one shot, we all thought she did great.

Since you mentioned the South...... Most of my relatives measured their Corn crop yield by the gallon rather than the bushel. ;D And it was sooooth. :D

I've nearly run the tires off it. I got it for free, only had to put the seat back on it. I have used it for more than just hunting too. I hooked it to an 8 ft. utility trailer and hauled wood with it. It goes through mud and water and over submerged cypress knees, all without complaining. Definitely gives your arms a work out.
