The cooler weather is pretty much gone now, it's back up to 90 or so during the day :'( Humidity is returning too, along with the mosquitos. It has been cool and very dry since the storm, and the plague of mosquitos seemed to have abated, I guess because of it being so dry. Anyway, they are back now although not as bad as they were.

I am still cleaning up storm debris. I have started on the last tree down at the back of the property. I am going to have to replace the fence across the entire back of my property--it's flattened. Still dragging limbs, rolling logs, but have not begun to rake the back yard yet. And still working on clearing off the garden beds.

I got a few of them cleaned and planted the last couple of days. I am determined to plant by the signs this fall, so I have been busy yesterday and today. I planted seedlings of kohlrabi, kale, leeks, and brussels sprouts, and beet and pea seed. I am going to wait another week or so to plant carrots, and maybe some more beet seed. I am going to plant some baby spinach and lettuce, but only in a couple of long planter boxes on the porch railing. Got my garlic that I had ordered from Terretorial Seeds today, and got about half of it planted. I stuck a bunch of it in with the roses because I've read they like to grow together.

Much weeding is left to do, I had let things get so weedy during July and August--it was so terribly hot and I felt so bad physically (before having my gall bladder surgery) that I didn't do much in the gardens. I figure it will take a few more days to pull all the weeds. I hate weeding, it seems like such a waste of time and effort.

I am going to put down cardboard in the garden and cover it with pine straw to see how it works at supressing weed growth.
