Hey everyone been a long time since I have been on here.
I have a question about where I might find a non electric thermostatic air flow control to control the draft on a wood burning space heater. Or if I could fabricate a working model myself.
Any help on where I might find one or find the material (the wound steel) to make one would be great. Thanks, Greg - AKA - Wildman

I know the old Warm Morning stoves had a control like you're talking about. Maybe you can find an old one of those.

i dunno -
but i do recall that many of the old sheet metal cabinet stoves ( the ones made to look more like furniture than woodstoves ) had mechanical thermostats -
perhaps they're still available as replacement parts or perhaps you might find something at a salvage yard -
good luck -

You want a bimetal thermostat - If you Google "Bimetal thermostat for wood stove" you might find what you need. I did, and got some stove makers, so maybe you could contact one and see if you can get just the part you're looking for:

Hope this helps! I actually had some bi-metal dampers on the windspinners I had on a solar-heated greenhouse. I bought them from the Sears catalog in 1980 - but I doubt if they'd still have them! (I also got a great solar powered battery electrical fencer from Sears - after having them replace two duds, the third one worked for years. I doubt if they carry THOSE any more, either!) ;)
