Not homesteading related, please forgive me.
April 14, 1985 to August 30, 2008
Seven institutions, three riots, two attempts on my life, three assaults, an unknown but high number of fights and assaults I was involved in, responded to 17 homicides, 14 years a Union Steward, two years a Union President, 16 years a Correctional Officer, seven years a Lieutenant, unsuccessfully sued four times, founding member of the SORT team at my first institution, and two years as a Disturbance Control Team leader.
It was a full career.

Sounds like you may be ready for whatever physically comes your way. Maybe it's time for you to find a peaceful existance.

I was 25 years in the same field at a county / city jail . the most agrivating time for me was when I was a shop steward. I had lazy officers and were abusive at the same time , think that the union should fight for them when management wanted to can them. Then if they got a repromand it was the unions fault.

Well Guys, they claim this job takes as much as ten years off your life due to stress. Let's prove them wrong and live to be a hundred. As far as were you posted, your retired so post away ;D

A VERY full career!
Thank you for making the country safer.
Thank you for being part of an institution that will give consequences to my nephew, who has been in a lot of trouble: him getting pulled up short while he is still young is his last chance for a decent life.
And, lastly, thank you for making the jails safer for foolish young men, one of which (who is my nephew) is doing a month in jail for parole violation as I type this.
(I hope this works: I hope he decides he would rather hang out on the California beaches instead of going back to jail for an endless list of petty violations. We have tried everything else)
At any rate, thank you! You are appreciated, even if we rarely think to say so!

LOL, been there, done that. Used to laugh at how they would gripe and complain about dues, but boy did they want you to save their bacon. And the majority were always on you about "Why do you represent a piece of garbage like that", until it was them in the frying pan.

"Pop" Fromm retired from the Lewisburg penitentiary in 1972. And every year he stills whoops our butts on the golf course. Can only hit it about 150 yards, but he's never more than 10 yards off center. And he can putt like nobody's business. He is my role model.
My personal goal is to collect as much in pension as I earned in salary. I estimate that will take me to age 85. Not at all unreasonable given my family's history of longevity. I'll do a true calculation once I start getting regular checks.

I wish you nothing but the best, LeatherneckPA. You keep us up to date on things. Sounds to me like you are more than ready to take retirement to the max. I am really happy for you and can't wait till the day comes when I hang it all up and walk out the door for the last time.
