I've been experimenting with making beverages that are similar to Frappuccino so my daughter could save some money, but still have her favorite drink. Here are the two I've come up with so far. She's making them and putting them in small Snapple bottles so she can take it with her.
Iced Coffee
Make a pot of coffee (I make 12 cups)
Pour the pot of coffee into a heat-proof half-gallon pitcher.
Add 1 cup of sugar and a couple teaspoons of vanilla. Stir.
Fill pitcher the rest of the way with milk. Stir.
Serve chilled over ice.
This one is more for making a cup at a time. It's my personal favorite.
Coffee Milk
Syrup
3 cups water
8 heaping teaspoons instant coffee
4 cups sugar
2 T. vanilla extract
In medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Stir in instant coffee till dissolved.
Add sugar, 1/2 cup at a time, stirring to dissolve. Bring back to a boil after each addition. Boil 1 minute and remove from heat. Stir in vanilla.
Pour into jars, Cool and refrigerate.
Makes 5 cups.
To prepare
Fill glass about 1/4 full with syrup. Finish filling with ice cold milk. Stir or shake.
