I've used a hand crank model for years, but decided I wanted an electric one after I borrowed my Mum's last fall to process two deer. :o What a difference it made!
My shoulders bother me sometimes. I had one rotator cuff injury on the right side, and damaged a ligament on the left side, so sometimes they hurt. I wanted my own electric grinder so I wouldn't have to borrow Mum's. I bought it at Academy, it seems like a good one.
I often don't grind all the deer into burger or chili meat right away. I often separate the hindquarters into what I call 'roasts' and freeze them. Sometimes I cook them as roasts, but when autumn starts getting near, I usually excavate the freezer, remove all the roasts that are left and grind them up into burger/chili meat, because I do use a lot of ground meat.
I just got a bunch out of the freezer and it's all sitting in the sink, should be partially thawed by morning. Supposed to be 101F out tomorrow, I think I'm going to spend part of the morning testing out my new grinder.
Could not find a used one at any resale shops so was forced to buy new :'(
