The other day the company I sub contract for were cleaning out some oln new stuff they didn't want any more. One Item was a new antena about 15 feet tall it ran between 869 and 960 killasomethings. I got it, would it kill my CB:wacko:

Eventually the mismatch between the antenna and your radio would very likely damage your radio, yes.
But if you have a use for it for a receiving only antenna, it probably would work fine.
The problem comes when the radio is mismatched and some of the voltage generated when you transmit is reflected back down into the radio. The final transistors in the radio isn't built to handle that and so a little damage is done to them each time you transmit. Eventually enough damage is done and the transistors fail completely.
I'm a little rusty in my RF electronics or I would tell you what that antenna is probably used for. You're best off either sticking with what you have or buying an antenna specifically built for CB use.

A 1/4 wave ant for CB is 109 in long. If the feed point is centered it may trim to length, frequency is in the 27 MHZ range. With a SWR meter you can check to see if it matches.

It sounds like a SMR antenna. (800 mhz. range) Nope.. Not a good antenna for your CB.

I suspected it was used for the radios they have in their trucks to the substations.

Most definitely big bad JUJU for your CB!
But not an invaluable antenna. By all means advertise it for sale or swap for a really good new condition CB Base Antenna.
Just an idea, good luck!
