I'm looking for a good recipe to pickle green tomatoes. I had a jar I got from a friend of a friend and there were garlic cloves and dill heads in the jar. They were fantastic but now I can't find the recipe and my friend's friend has moved so I have no idea how to duplicate them. I think he used a Misses Waggs dill pickle and just added extra dill and garlic, at least that's what they tasted like. Any ideas?

were they kind of sweet, kind of like a bread and butter pickle (not super sweet but definately had some sugar to them)

One year I maded green tomato pickles and I used the recipie that I would use for bread and butter pickles but with less sugar and more garlic and dill - they were great. I kind of experimented on a couple little jars till I got the mix they way we liked.

I tried these 2 years ago and liked them. I used dill seed since I didn't have fresh dill. Heck, I don't care for dill much, but these were good.

Ingredients:
Green tomatoes - 6-7 qts packed in jars- Quartered if medium, halved if small

3-4 cloves of garlic per qt.- more if small

2 qt. water

2 tbsp. dill seed

Wash tomatoes and pack in sterile jars. Add several garlic buds. (May
also add strips of celery, pepper, carrots.) Boil the brine for 5 minutes.
