Anyone know anything about this? I was on the websight and it seems a little dated, is this still going on?

I recall a Free State project, but IIRC, they picked NH as their state to try.

Personally, I think NH was a poor choice, but I wasn't part of the project...

I didn't really understand the intent of the 'free state' project.
Mark, there is still some cheap properties up here, but I wouldn't under any circumstances call what is available rural, its friggin' REMOTE!
If you want any specifics just email me.

Just FYI - the Free State Project was initiated to move freedom-loving people to a single state, and to start electing like-minded people to government positions in that State. Then they would progress to taking that single state back to a more Constitutionally-oriented government. Their requirements were to have a port for potential free trade with other countries, technology for communication, lots of space for those who wanted to homestead, and lots of opportunity to start new businesses and lives with minimal government intervention (that would hopefully become less with time). They were portrayed and loonies in many newspapers and opinion columns, and when the group picked NH, many fell away because they didn't like NH for various reasons. However, a friend of mine was supposed to move up there this year... it is supposed to be a gradual thing, and not a sudden takeover or an enclave or compound mentality.
My problem with NH is I wanted AWAY from the East Coast, high or concentrated populations, and wanted a farm - and property values are far too escalated there, even now. We are struggling to be debt free and far away from intrusive government - NH is too close to all of that, in our opinions.

So thats what its about! OK, then I'm against it.
Wyoming is just about perfect now without a fresh infusion of idiot politics.
Invaders from other states are why I have "covenants" on property that is 28mi down a dirt road and 2mi beyond the grid. We don't need things to deteriorate further.
What we DO need is a reversion to the bad old days, in regards to voting. If you aren't a tax paying land-owner you should not be allowed to vote on anything that pertains in ANY way to land or its use. I realize covenants aren't voted on, but you catch my drift.

Dear Forum Members,
While I like the basic idea behind the FSP, until someone can tell me how to take a private ferry from North Carolina to New Hampshire, so that I can travel around the gun laws in New Jersey, Massachusetts, Philadelphia, and New York, I would have to pass on this particular State.
If I could just get to Tennessee, that would probably do for the meantime. *At least they have no income tax and if I can produce enough of my own food and provisions, I could avoid a lot of their sales tax.

good start - let's carry it to a wider conclusion - if you aren't a taxpayer you cannot vote on anything that involves spending tax revenues -

We really need a Free State Project in Kalifornia. Let's get it going before we go completely down the toilet, if it's not already too late. God help California, PLEASE.

We got our own deal in Tioga Cuonty Pa. If your not like the locals you can't get a contractor or a service with out a lot of trouble and work. city slickers, you were warned.... HEE HEE
Tioga County is a very nice place, would be a good place to live, just have to save my money now so I can get my own place. If only PA did not have fast Eddy sending everyone’s tax dollars to Philly

wallostone, you know what we should try to do? We should try to get a referendum on the ballot to eject Filthydelphia from the Commonwealth, make them live on their own damned labors for a change.

I've got lots of friends in construction, and contacts at PCT, what do you say we hold and extencive workshop on dirt work and dig around the boarder of that place, then push them into the sea?
It's so easy to get gov' assistance in this state that it's starting to compete with real jobs. (please don't give me to many hours sir...I won't get wellfair)
