My dog's been hanging out by the shed all day, nose stuck thru the fence. Finally found what he's been after. It's a mole. Odd thing is it was right on the other side of the fence, touching it, and my dog was touching the other side. The thing just stayed there. I kicked the fence by it and it didn't move. Then it moved around a bit but didn't try to hide or anything. Is that normal behavior for a mole? (At least I think it was a mole, kind of big and black/grey color, short hair).

Edit: I just checked and he's not in the same spot he was. He's gone. So, hopefully not a poisoned mole???

Moles are small, like rats, and are usually underground.

That's why I wondered if it was a mole. All the ones I've seen seem to have been smaller. I couldn't see it's face it was in the grass. What else do you think it might have been? Didn't look like a rat. Does a mole have a tail? I'll have to check that next time I see it.

Last week I was shoveling compost into my wheel barrow and uncovered a mole.I threw it to the chickens and they tore it into shreds.

Not a pleasant death. I've heard they're beneficial, to leave them alone.

They're not beneficial to me when they destroy my yard and garden that I've worked so hard to maintain. One of their favorite foods are earthworms.Think about what worms do for your soil and then tell me which is more beneficial.JMHO

Well then, probably best to kill it humanely and THEN throw it to the chickens. JMO

Mole, short tail, big front feet. They do pop out of the ground now and then. Dogs love to dig 'em up.

You may have seen the infamouse liberalalis mole . They like to find conservative dogs and taunt them then when the dog attacts them they turn around and sue both the dog and the dog owner and want all of your first borns allowences for the rest of their lives. Throwing it to the chickens alive is the best thing that can happen to them
