I have a young friend who was formerly a commercial fisherman now severely disabled.

Currently she uses our local libraries when she needs computers/Internet access.

Do to family related issues she will soon be relocating to rural West Virginia where she will not have a public library nearby nor discretionaty transportation.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a foundadtion or other program that provides low cost computers and internet access for legitimately disabled people.

Thanks in advance!

An older computer - full set up w/scanner and printer will bring $100, dial up is $7-10 a month.

Non working are usually under $5 often free and a hard drive or power supply to make 1 working of 2 is often available. Multifunction printers, copy, FAX, scan and print start at $2 - 6. Modems and routers are similar. Linux loads easy - I like Memphis and Ubuntu.

Majorgeeks.com has open source software as do tucows.com and toms, so a years dialup could be under $100.
